Planning
Variations

So, you’ve had your planning application approved and then you had another thought about the design and want to do something a bit different. Don’t panic, rather than start all over again with a new planning application you can submit an application for a minor amendment to request a minor variation.

For example, let’s say you had plans approved for an extension and you now wish to move the extension closer to your neighbour’s boundary. This would be considered a minor material amendment because it may impact your neighbours and the appearance of the surrounding area.

In this case you can submit an application to request a variation to your approved planning application. While it is not guaranteed that it will be approved, submitting the application to request a variation will not risk your planning approval being overturned.

As with a planning application a strong case will need to be put forward to justify why your planning authority should approve the request.
